Application for refurbishment roadmap possible again!

Instead of simply renovating without further ado, it is often advisable to draw up a careful plan. For long-lasting living comfort and low energy costs, it is advisable to make an appointment for an “Energy Consultancy for Residential Buildings (EBW)” as a first step. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) will support you by covering up to 80 per cent of the consultation costs.

Since 19 January 2024, applications for efficient heating networks (BEW) and energy consulting for residential and non-residential buildings can be submitted and approved again. Applications for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy (EEW) are expected to be able to be submitted again from 15 February 2024 as soon as the revised guidelines come into force.

What are the benefits of such a consultation and what is the content of a subsidised energy consultation?

An energy consultation provides you with valuable information on how you can reduce the energy consumption of your property. A qualified energy consultant (also known as an energy efficiency expert) will visit your home and carefully analyse the current condition of your building. The aim of this subsidised consultation is to provide you with quality-assured information and opportunities for comparison so that you can better understand, assess and evaluate your own energy consumption.

As a result of the energy consultation, you will receive a customised renovation roadmap (iSFP) that corresponds to your financial possibilities. This plan can provide for either a comprehensive refurbishment or step-by-step energy-saving measures that are carefully coordinated.

This roadmap enables you to take appropriate measures to reduce your energy consumption. This is not only a financial relief, but also helps to avoid unnecessary investments. Your energy consultant can also inform you about funding programmes, including those from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), which can provide you with financial support for energy-related renovations.

What advantages does an individualised renovation roadmap (iSFP) offer?

The individualised renovation roadmap (iSFP) was developed as part of the energy consultation for residential buildings subsidised by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). A standardised nationwide methodology was established to clearly present the energy consultation report. The iSFP provides you with an easy-to-understand and visually appealing overview of the current energy status of your building, possible savings potential, recommended refurbishment steps and the associated costs.

You also benefit from a five per cent subsidy when implementing certain measures from the iSFP as part of the federal subsidy for efficient buildings – individual measures (BEG EM).

Who is eligible for federal funding for energy advice for residential buildings?

The “Federal funding for energy advice for residential buildings” is aimed at the following target groups:

  • House and flat owners
    Condominium owners’
  • associations (WEG)
  • Tenants and leaseholders
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises

What is subsidised?

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) covers 80 per cent of the costs of energy advice for residential buildings. The maximum subsidy is

  • For detached and semi-detached houses, the maximum subsidy is 1,300 euros.
  • For buildings with more than three residential units, the maximum subsidy is 1,700 euros.

In addition, a further grant of up to 500 euros is awarded if the energy consultant presents the energy consultation report, also known as an individualised renovation roadmap (iSFP), at a homeowners’ meeting of a homeowners’ association (WEG). This is particularly relevant as different interests of the various owners often clash in condominium owners’ associations. The decision-making processes regarding investments can therefore be more time-consuming. A qualified advisor can help you choose the right modernisation measures and explain the necessary refurbishment steps in an understandable way.

What are the requirements for state funding?

In order to benefit from the energy consulting subsidy, the following requirements must be met:

  • Your building must be located in Germany.
  • The building application or building notification for the residential building must have been submitted at least ten years ago at the time of application.
  •

How do I apply for funding for an energy consultation?

It’s very simple: You can find a professionally qualified energy consultant on the website www.energie-effizienz-experten.de.

We will be happy to provide you with full support from the application, the creation of the renovation roadmap, to the finalisation and payment of the requested funding. In addition, we can also offer you advice and support for the implementation of various refurbishment measures and assist you with the implementation itself.

The application is submitted to the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA). In order to engage an energy consultant or us for this process, an authorisation is issued to submit the application on your behalf. This also applies in the event that a homeowners’ association (WEG) is represented by an administrator or advisory board.
